New Policy for Navarro County Regarding VFDs

Here is some clarification on the new policy of Navarro county regarding county VFDs. This is an excerpt from an email from our VP of Navarro county fire association.
The short version is, from now on if the caller/complainant does not request the volunteers, then we will not be paged for your call. Keep this in mind if you have an emergency and need someone to help you ASAP. It could take more than 20 minutes for the ambulance to reach some parts of Navarro county. Please keep in mind, we want to be there for you! All you need to do is request us to come, this is so frustrating for those of us who truly want to serve our community!
"Today at the commissioner courts this new policy was drafted, signed, and put in place immediately following the meeting. After talking to a commissioner he stated this was needed because our county contracts left out medical responses. And this will be added to our new contracts. He stated multiple times that if the 911 caller just says an ambulance then just the ambulance will paged. But if the 911 caller states to send or asks for the volunteers then NCSO will dispatch volunteers and/or an ambulance. The commissioner was asked about wrecks and his response was," well you know who ever calls 911 is going to say send everyone". I believe we need to educate our citizens that if they do not request volunteers then NCSO will not page us like they have done for so many years."
